Job Duties:
Primary responsibilities include providing healthcare services under the supervision of a physician. Duties involve conducting physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses, ordering and interpreting tests, counseling on preventive health care, assisting in surgery, and writing prescriptions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Examine patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
2. Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
3. Make tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
4. Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination.
5. Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
6. Provide physicians with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures.
7. Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval.
8. Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.
Requirements:
1. Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
2. Current, valid Physician Assistant license in the state of practice.
3. Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
4. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Ability to work collaboratively within a team of other healthcare professionals.
7. Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) software.
8. Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
9. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
10. Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures, with the ability to make correct inferences when information is missing or unclear.
