Certified Echocardiography Technician / Medical Assistant

Position Summary
The Certified Echocardiography Technician / Medical Assistant performs diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring cardiovascular conditions. When echocardiography services are not being performed, the technician assists in clinical operations as a Medical Assistant, supporting patient care, clinical workflow, and office operations.
This dual-role position supports the mission of Just Heart Cardiovascular Group, Inc. to deliver high-quality cardiovascular diagnostic services while maintaining efficient patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Echocardiography Duties

Perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) according to established protocols.

Obtain high-quality diagnostic cardiac ultrasound images for physician interpretation.

Perform 2D, M-mode, Doppler, and Color Flow Doppler imaging.

Accurately measure and document cardiac structures and function.
-
Prepare and position patients for echocardiography procedures.

Ensure patient comfort, safety, and privacy during procedures.
-
Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment safely and efficiently.

Document studies in the electronic medical record (EMR) and echocardiography reporting system.

Assist physicians during stress echocardiography when required.
-
Maintain echocardiography lab supplies and ensure equipment calibration and quality control.
-
Follow ASE (American Society of Echocardiography) imaging standards and protocols.

Ensure compliance with Medicare, HIPAA, and clinical documentation requirements.
Medical Assistant Duties
When not performing echocardiography, the technician will assist clinical staff by:

Preparing patients for examinations and procedures.

Recording vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, weight, oxygen saturation).

Assisting physicians during patient examinations and minor procedures.
-
Performing EKGs and other basic diagnostic tests.
-
Documenting patient information in the EMR.
-
Preparing exam rooms and maintaining clinical supplies.
-
Assisting with patient intake, history review, and medication reconciliation.
-
Providing patient education under physician supervision.
-
Assisting with Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) or other cardiology monitoring programs when applicable.

Supporting patient flow and clinic efficiency.
-
Maintaining infection control and safety protocols.
Qualifications
Required
-
Certification in Echocardiography such as:
-
RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer)
-
RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer)
-
CCI Certification
-
-
Completion of an accredited echocardiography program.

Current BLS certification.
-
Ability to perform high-quality echocardiographic imaging.
-
Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and pathology.
-
Strong interpersonal and patient care skills.
-
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).
Preferred
-
1–3 years of echocardiography experience in a cardiology practice

Experience with stress echocardiography

Prior experience working as a Medical Assistant

Knowledge of cardiology workflow and outpatient cardiovascular clinics

Work Environment
This position is based in a cardiology clinic environment, requiring close interaction with physicians, nurses, and patients. The role involves both diagnostic imaging responsibilities and direct patient care support.
