Part-Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner


Position Summary

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and patient education in a collaborative behavioral healthcare environment. This role focuses on whole-person care by addressing the connection between mental health, physical health, trauma, and overall wellness while working closely with a multidisciplinary care team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
  • Diagnose and treat a variety of mental health conditions
  • Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychiatric medications within scope of practice
  • Provide ongoing medication management appointments and follow-up care
  • Educate patients on psychiatric conditions, treatment options, medications, and wellness strategies
  • Provide supportive counseling and behavioral health interventions related to mental and chronic health conditions
  • Collaborate with therapists, case managers, and healthcare providers to coordinate patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and patient records
  • Participate in treatment planning, quality improvement initiatives, and care coordination activities
  • Refer patients to appropriate medical, psychiatric, or community resources as needed

Qualifications

  • Active Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Illinois required
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification preferred
  • Experience treating children, adolescents, and adults preferred
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and integrated behavioral healthcare
  • Excellent clinical, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Schedule

  • Part-time position
  • Flexible schedule with daytime, evening, or hybrid work options
  • Approximately 20 hours per week, based on availability and patient volume

Education Requirements:

Must have a Master’s Degree
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree
Must have a High School Diploma
