Part-Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Position Summary
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and patient education in a collaborative behavioral healthcare environment. This role focuses on whole-person care by addressing the connection between mental health, physical health, trauma, and overall wellness while working closely with a multidisciplinary care team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
- Diagnose and treat a variety of mental health conditions
- Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychiatric medications within scope of practice
- Provide ongoing medication management appointments and follow-up care
- Educate patients on psychiatric conditions, treatment options, medications, and wellness strategies
- Provide supportive counseling and behavioral health interventions related to mental and chronic health conditions
- Collaborate with therapists, case managers, and healthcare providers to coordinate patient care
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and patient records
- Participate in treatment planning, quality improvement initiatives, and care coordination activities
- Refer patients to appropriate medical, psychiatric, or community resources as needed
Qualifications
- Active Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Illinois required
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification preferred
- Experience treating children, adolescents, and adults preferred
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and integrated behavioral healthcare
- Excellent clinical, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Schedule
- Part-time position
- Flexible schedule with daytime, evening, or hybrid work options
- Approximately 20 hours per week, based on availability and patient volume
